I can't remember if I updated everyone lately. I have been keeping myself very busy trying to get content into my blog the last few days while trying not to think about when we will be allowed to leave. After being told we were out the door then not going home, we seem to have a much more solid base to stand on now.

The doctor at the NICU that is (...)

Protests in Athens make traveling to the NICU horrible

It was a trying weekend as our levels of tiredness reached all time highs. There were massive protests in downtown Athens and widespread transit strikes that made traveling back and forth to IASO exhausting. Greece is being pulled by outside forces that are trying to force it to get its act together. Internally this ends up the same way each time. Protests that become riots that become looting (...)

This morning I will catch up with some of the Life in the NICU stories that ran across four days. We were jumping through hoops thinking we were going home the next day. Then we weren't. Then we were. So my updates were spotty at best. There were some very good milestones during this time that were missed even by my NICU nurse sister. At the time the forest started overwhelming the trees. Enjoy. There are only two more (...)

Okay, I got to have my first real freaky, "Yeah we really do have a preemie," moment yesterday evening. Eri has been very great about letting me share the feeding time. Once a day I get to sit and take James to feed him his bottle. Its great. Oh yeah. During my first attempt I told him a story and managed to get him to drink 40ml. Oh yeah, I'm awesome at this.

However...

The following announcement was from one of my multi-mail days. Sometimes I just couldn't contain my excitement and would actually fight with the wireless network of the hospital to allow me to send an email. It also is one of the last five of the "News from the NICU" series of posts. I may just have to sit down and write a nice timeline page up to string them all together in an easy to digest package. So as the wind blows (...)

I'm getting closer to my home...

Each day I think this. Each day I hope this. Each day I dream this.

Yesterday was a nice day. It was cold and windy. There was snow in the air. The buses fought (...)

When a Month seems like a Lifetime

Okay, it has not technically been "a month" yet, merely 4 weeks. But for our little boy (and his cousin Violet *waves* hi cuz) it is a whole life. Starting out with a bang and traveling along many milestones to get to this one with so many more to come.

When a month is all (...)

Good morning and καλημέρα, welcome to the Sunday Morning Edition of "whatzup (what is up?) with James". I'll be your host this morning if I don't freeze into a solid block of ice while typing this. If needed I'll keep buffering videos so the fan on my laptop runs and I can warm my fingers.

Onward!!! (seems the coffee kicked in...)

James - 1780 grams and growing

Where to start today? I don't think sent out a mail yesterday as I was sort of, ummm, out of it. It was a long day and James had a few issues. Nothing major but I think his belly was rebelling against the quick increase in milk after almost doubling over two days what he was normally fed. They had a stretch where he was being bumped up in 5ml increments every 12 hours, moved to feeding every 3 hours instead of 2, and overall (...)
