I wasn't
planning on writing an article today but instead doing some
research on how to make it easier for me to post videos here. I use
the Sublime service to provide videos using the html5 video tag and
host the files myself. The problem is going from that nice, but
very large, video that I shot on my iPhone and coming up with a
lighter version you see here. Usually this is a huge pain involving
at least four different (...)
Before I get
back to writing about what I love (and getting off this two month
vacation) I decided to update to the latest software and make more
improvements to the way things are seen on this blog. In doing so I
may have broken all the RSS links. This is just a test post to see
if it still shows up in my feed reader or not.
I was sitting
outside and trying to find a solution to this silly problem. CSS
fixed: is so inherently broken that nothing I did could stop it
from obscuring content on the page. While the latest batch of code
to the site did move it to a place that didn't hide any of the
article it was still sitting there mocking me...
As I get
ready to push a whole bunch of changes to the site I take a moment
while my coffee brews to relax for a moment. As I do, it comes to
my attention that it seems a lifetime ago since the year changed,
since lives changed. It seems impossible that we have been home for
just over a month as a family. Having a new baby really messes with
your sense of time. On one hand, you are forever doing the mundane
tasks that need to (...)
The footer at
the bottom that is held there using position:fixed was trouble in
IE6 and broken on the Android. It worked on the iPhone mostly but
zooming gave some undesirable results due to the drop shadow effect
blocking input at the bottom of the screen. In order to make it
work as well as I can for now across all platforms I had to lock
the zoom in the mobile viewport.
Well first
off, thanks for the reports about the blog being hard to read in
Internet Explorer. Brrrrr. Like a bad taste in my mouth. You can
now read in pretty much any version of IE down to IE6 and the
footer will stay stuck to the bottom where it belongs. You might
have to do a hard refresh (control+F5) to get the fix to take
effect. It seems to pick up the new CSS in IE9 but I have a
simulator of sorts to render it in IE6. (...)
Good morning
everyone. I am working diligently to fix the problems with photos
not showing up in the articles when viewing with an iPhone (and
possibly other smartphones) this morning. Most of the articles have
been fixed.
After 42 days
in the NICU this dad is finally getting his stories down. Putting
pencil to paper if you will and sharing my experiences and feelings
about becoming a dad. I hope some people take the time to "smell
the roses" and understand that no matter what, there are always
others that know just how you feel. That have done or are doing the
very same things you are.
