Learning to Roll

We started our day out normally. Some good natured yelling from James to come get him out of bed after a pretty good night sleep. The usual coffee for me and some stories to James about how his milk really isn't ready until the thing on the stove says so. He kept pointing out the fact that the light was off and the coffee maker had nothing to do with his breakfast.

Kids. What do they know...

Now each day my wife and I have been very good about letting James spend some time on his belly. Usually when he gets up in the late morning in an attempt to wear him down a little so he will take a good nap just before noon. This has been working out pretty well. He hollars and yells and tries to move around but is still too little to have any mobility.

Until the other day that is...

nap timerestingEri had James on the couch after feeding him. She set him down and over was talking to him when over he went. Now granted there is a pretty good slope going to the back of the couch but it was a start. It seems that he got a good taste for the wonder of it all. Ever since then when we lay him down up go the back feet and he tries to toss himself over. He hasn't quite (thankfully) figured out the routine yet. That does not stop him from trying though.

As I talked to him while the went through his attempts one moment I was looking at his back and the next I was looking at his front. He looked at me as if to say, "Where did you come from?"

So I guess we are on to the next little steps...

Of course when I tried to catch him doing this (with some video) James just couldn't figure out how he managed to roll over. This usually leads to some baby cursing. Lots of cursing from him actually.

Keep up the good work James...

He was in a pretty good mood after trying and trying to roll. Of course in the middle of saying hello to everyone I got a text from my phone provider (YES YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO...) and I missed out and the rest of the family hellos. Suffice it to say that James also says hello to all his cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents.

Of course when I tried to recapture this there was nothing but crickets...
