I wasn't
planning on writing an article today but instead doing some
research on how to make it easier for me to post videos here. I use
the Sublime service to provide videos using the html5 video tag and
host the files myself. The problem is going from that nice, but
very large, video that I shot on my iPhone and coming up with a
lighter version you see here. Usually this is a huge pain involving
at least four different (...)

I was
commenting the other night to my wife that I look forward to the
time when our son is a little more, shall we say, interactive.
Yeah, that is a good way to put it. We are still in the lull after
the initial onslaught of, "There is a new tiny human in our house."
I'm sure any parent knows what I am talking about.
It really is
like that. You (...)

Before anyone
gets the wrong idea, James did not have to get admitted, we just
had to get another renal scan. This time it was a DTPA to be sure (doubly, tripley I've lost count) that
the renal reflux (...)

It is really
nice watching James learn to learn to talk. You know, just figuring
out that the tongue and the mouth and all the bits connected seem
to have more importance than just eating with. I didn't realize how
much fun this was going to be to see firsthand. There are times he
will just sit there and try to maneuver his tongue for, oh I don't
know, to see if it will fall out if he sticks it out to far? Who
knows what (...)

It has been
awhile since I sat to write. No reason really. Well, nothing that
can be pointed at and blame set at the feet of. It is just that
parenting is a full time job, especially when learning as you go.
Nothing that can't be handled, it just takes time and effort. Lots
and lots of effort. So let me dust off the keyboard and get out the
camera. It is time to play catch up.
JAMES!!! Lets
get a nice (...)

Before I get
back to writing about what I love (and getting off this two month
vacation) I decided to update to the latest software and make more
improvements to the way things are seen on this blog. In doing so I
may have broken all the RSS links. This is just a test post to see
if it still shows up in my feed reader or not.
I hope
everyone is (...)

At a time
when our boy is wavering between happy go lucky and sleeping like a
champ to grouchy and not wanting to nap to save his parent's lives
it is always nice to see something new that is light and full of
joy.
Yes, the
first real laughter...
It came
between some (...)

We started
our day out normally. Some good natured yelling from James to come
get him out of bed after a pretty good night sleep. The usual
coffee for me and some stories to James about how his milk really
isn't ready until the thing on the stove says so. He kept pointing
out the fact that the light was off and the coffee maker had
nothing to do with his breakfast.
Kids. What do
they know...

As any new
parent knows the sleeping habits of an infant can change from week
to week. When it really gets violent is when they vary wildly from
day to day. This is how things have been around the house here.
Just as my wife and I were commenting on how James had decided to
sleep through the night he decided to add a curve ball to the mix
and try to stay awake most of the day. Now, to say stay awake is a
bit of a misnomer. It (...)
